Built-in connector
Stripe connects to a Wix site as a third-party card provider straight from the Wix dashboard (Accept Payments > Third-Party Credit / Debit Card Providers > Connect), in the 41 countries Wix lists for it. The integration is built and documented by Wix; Stripe's own support page simply points at Wix's guide, and Stripe's partner directory lists Wix as a Verified, Premier SaaS Platform partner.1
Connects through Built-in dashboard connector: Accept Payments > See More Payment Options > Third-Party Credit/Debit Card Providers > Connect next to Stripe, then sign in to an existing Stripe account or create one. Biggest gotcha: Two Wix pages, two country lists.

Capability status reflects the integration and documentation available at the time of verification, not necessarily every capability of the underlying gateway or platform.
There is no test-mode path on Wix. Wix explicitly refuses test or temporary provider credentials, and its troubleshooting guide lists an account still in test mode as a cause of the connection error, so the Stripe account you connect must be live and verified. To exercise checkout without charging a real card, preview the checkout in the editor up to the payment step, or enable a manual (offline) payment method and place the test order with that; a completed order on a live site through Stripe is a real charge that you then refund. What to assert: the site currency equals the Stripe account currency (mismatch declines), each Stripe method you expect (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, iDEAL | Wero, Bancontact, AliPay) is toggled on under Manage for Stripe and is available in the store's country, ACH orders stay unfulfilled until the payment leaves Pending, and recurring plans charge at least 0.50 USD by card. Stripe webhooks are not part of this integration: Wix talks to Stripe server-to-server and the merchant configures nothing in the Stripe Dashboard beyond the account itself.1

Wix's Stripe article names 41 countries where Stripe can be connected. Wix's country-by-country provider page shows Stripe in more places, adding Estonia, Greece, India, South Korea and Puerto Rico. Both are official Wix help pages, fetched the same day. For a merchant in one of those five, set the business location in Accept Payments and confirm Stripe appears before promising anything.

A Wix site can run exactly one credit-card provider. Connecting Stripe means Wix Payments (itself built on Stripe Connect) is not processing cards on that site, and the reverse. Alternative-method providers such as PayPal can sit alongside, but not a second card processor. Wix tracks multi-provider card processing as a feature request that is still collecting votes, with no workaround.

Wix refuses test or temporary credentials when connecting a provider; a site connected with Stripe test keys has to disconnect and reconnect live. The troubleshooting page lists an account in test mode as a cause of the generic provider-unavailable error. Plan for a live, verified Stripe account from day one of UAT; use a manual (offline) payment method or editor preview for dry runs.

Wix's Multi-Currency feature works with Stripe: a shopper genuinely pays in the currency they pick, not just sees a converted price, for any currency on Stripe's list in Wix's supported-currencies table. The base Wix account currency still has to match the Stripe account currency for the connection itself to work, or transactions may be declined. What Wix doesn't document is which currency the merchant is actually paid out in once Stripe is the provider; its payout-details page describes that only for Wix Payments and tells Stripe and PayPal merchants to check their provider's own settlement terms.

Wix's Stripe page quotes 2.9% + $0.30 and a $0.50 minimum, with a note that fees vary by country. Stripe's pricing page gives the same US domestic rate plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% for currency conversion, which Wix's page does not mention. In the EU, Wix Payments publishes 1.9% + 0.30 EUR, so Stripe is not automatically the cheaper option there.
